An oasis of light and space
-Designed for code+ insulation levels
-Can be built on any type of foundation: piers, slab-on-grade, crawl-space, full basement
-Overall footprint (including the screened porch and open decks): 32 x 37 feet
The RavenPlus is the distillation of many cabin wish-lists: the wide-open feel, fantastic light and great proportions of the RavenHouse Original combined with the comforts of a full bathroom & kitchen and an easy set of stairs to the loft bedroom.
The warmth of the centrally placed woodstove reaches through the entire space; the skylights & windows offer a strong visual connection to the land and sky around you, providing an abundance of natural light and fantastic views. Despite its very compact footprint, there is an astounding 800+ square feet of interior living space.
The undivided double height space allows the interior areas to connect and borrow space from one another. For example, the bed loft would feel cramped if it were fully enclosed; the open volume also makes the living area below feel much larger.
The RavenPlus is equally suited as a spacious weekend getaway cabin or as a compact, full-time home.

The following is for informational purposes only.
No matter if you’re planning to build it all yourself or hire professional help, almost everyone wants to know how much their cabin will cost to build. For realistic planning, you need real numbers.
In the US or Canada, per square foot costs for materials range between US$75 and $250, with labour another US$75 to $250 per square foot. Pay no attention to the U.S. ‘national average cost-per-square-foot’ as it is not a realistic guideline to base any decisions on (and is certainly not helpful if you live in a country other than the US). It is grossly misleading as a ballpark costing method because it includes tens of thousands of 2500 sq ft suburban houses, mass-produced buildings that are constructed on machine-flattened land using builder grade materials bought with volume discounts, very unlike the small cabin or house you’ll be building. Apples and oranges, especially if you are not hiring out much of the labour.
To get up-to-date, locally relevant pricing for the materials that will be required to build your cabin, take your set of plans (no matter where you purchased them) to a building materials supplier to receive a ‘materials takeoff’ and price for everything that they are able to supply. If you are building your cabin yourself, *this* amount, plus another 15% for contingency, is your ballpark cost to build, plus your time.
Complete and even more accurate building budget calculations can be made by a local, experienced builder who has considered all your unique requirements and the building site’s unique characteristics. It can be worth paying a small consultation fee to gain their real-life insights into building costs in your particular area.
Cost varies by region and finishings. All of our designs offer flexibility during planning and during construction to use windows, doors, and interior & exterior finishes that suit your budget and preferences.
